UNANGAN ULUXTADAX
(Aleutian 3-hole Kayak)

This is a replica of the U.S. National Museum of Natural History's 398278, collected by Captain Michael A. Healy of the U.S. Revenue Service Cutter Corwin in 1885. The kayak is 23'2" long, 26-5/8" wide, and 10-1/2" depth-to-sheer. Despite its great size, it maintains finer length-to-width proportions than some 20th century Unangan 1-hole kayaks, and can of course hold three paddlers. The lines of this kayak are published in "Kayaks of Alaska."

Frame completed July 2013.

In the good company of friends... (On exhibit at the Lincoln Street Kayak & Canoe Museum).

On the water in October, 2015.
