Unangan Iqyax replica

This is the third kayak replica I built. It was built from a drawing done by John Brand, and published in his "Little Kayak Book", volume I (1984:31). The original is in the British Museum, and likely dates from around 1900. It measures 17'4" long, and 19-1/2" wide. The building of this kayak (along with the Copper Inuit Kayak [Canada]) were part of my course work at the Evergreen State College, Olympia, Washington (1995).

This kayak now hangs (with the skin removed) in the Paul Jensen Arctic Museum in Monmouth Oregon.
